This article highlights five Girl Scouts (The Unicorns) who were rejected from the Boy Scouts. The girls got a chance to join in on some Boy Scout activities through the “Learning for Life” program. The girls love the outdoors and just want to do outdoorsy things with the boy scouts. They took their case to the North Bay Scout Council but were told it was against the rules.

One girl, Skyler, said “We know how to camp, we know how to start a fire. We want to be Boy Scouts. Nothing should hold you back but you.”

Do you think it’s fair these girls were rejected from the Boy Scouts just because of their gender? Many girls would love to join the Boy Scouts if it weren’t for “tradition”. Do you think the traditional Boy Scout gender roles should be abolished? The Unicorns seem to think so!
